Gravitational Pull Up: Four Bloggers
This week's Gravitational Pull Up is fun because it lets me link to sites you should be reading but probably aren't.
PSoTD's challenge is to put together a four-blogger roundtable for a hypothetical one-hour chat show on CNBC. You have a one-year guaranteed timeslot. Who would you pick?
Oh, the joy! First, I would tap Fanatical Apathy's Adam Felber, writer of things that always make me laugh. His pointed and satiric commentary would be most welcome on the blogger panel.
Next, I would choose the feisty and deeply intellectual Shakespeare's Sister, who has more than once prompted those "Why am I even blogging when she says what I want to say but BETTER?" moments for me. Her perspective, and the stories she would choose to focus on, would be sorely missed if she were to say no.
I'd also want to add some A-list power from a good thinker, and who better than Andrew Sullivan to muddy the ideological waters by being willing to call a spade a spade and a theocrat a theocrat. I don't agree with everything Andrew says, but I love his independence and how he will continue banging an overlooked drum because he believes it is important.
And last but certainly not least, I would ask my UPC colleague Cernig to sit in. His Euro perspective and sense of humor would be a fine complement and counterpoint to the others. His clear analysis is always insightful, and he also has a knack for finding those overlooked stories that wiser heads than mine should be paying attention to.
These people would almost certainly put on the most entertaining and informative public affairs/current events program on the air today, and CNBC would weep with joy at what the other networks would grudgingly call our "ratings coup".
