Bush Says "Yeah, I Ordered NSA to Spy on Americans"

Shorter Bush: "If the President does it, it's not illegal".

I miss the days when America was a nation that subscribed to the rule of law. Bush insists that he has the power to spy on Americans--which ones are apparently also up to him--and that at his sole discretion he can detain Americans and hold them incommunicado in secret prisons at home or abroad for indefinite periods of time, which could mean forever.

Does that pretty well sum up his approach to the law enforcement angle of the global struggle against ideological extremists? If he runs out of targets for that, he might try looking in the mirror.
