SAO Dick Cheney

Froomkin and Greenwald both report extensively today about the absurdity of Dick Cheney's new name, "Senior Administration Official", but is it really ridiculous?

I would argue no. Just think about it: this is the administration that created "detainees", "enemy combatants", and the legal black hole of non-Americans in American custody at an American facility who cannot seek recourse in American courts. They are masters at renaming things to keep them out of reach of the law, and I'm pretty sure that if you read the Constitution from start to finish, you won't find any clause that allows for the impeachment of a "senior administration official".

We're about a week away from Cheney's office telephone being answered with a, "Hello, Senior Administration Official's office."
